The production process of titanium thin strip and foil consists of main processes (hot rolling, cold rolling strip, multi-roll mill rolling thin strip) and auxiliary processes (pickling, degreasing, heat treatment, shearing). The cold-rolled strip is the original blank for rolling thin strips and foil. After pickling and annealing, the strip is cold-rolled several times. The total deformation of each cold rolling is 20%~40%. It is degreased and vacuum-annealed in the middle. The disc shearing machine can be used for edge-cutting when necessary.

In recent years, the sensitivity of the pressure system has been improved by installing a position detector on the piston of the oil pressure system of the multi-roll mill, thereby controlling the thickness accuracy of the titanium foil. At present, the thickness accuracy of titanium foil with a rolling thickness of 0.04mm can be controlled within +/0.001mm.

For the shape control of the foil, the multi-roll mill generally adopts the automatic shape control of the intermediate roller lateral shift and the convexity adjustment mechanism. Shape control should also control the plate convexity to suppress wrinkles during coiling. In addition, the shape of the middle rod end is optimized to suit the rolling conditions. Thin strips and foils are mainly rolled with a twenty-roll mill, and mineral oil is used as a process lubricant. Annealing is performed in a vacuum annealing furnace with a vacuum degree of 0.01 Pa and a temperature of 600~750℃.

In recent years, the hot-rolled coil production technology of titanium materials, the rolling technology of cold-rolled plates and strips, and the thickness precision control of thin strips have all been greatly improved, and the product quality has also been greatly improved. The main subsequent work is how to produce large-volume titanium materials and continuously improve equipment and processes based on the characteristics of titanium to improve production efficiency, material dimensional accuracy, and surface quality to meet the requirements of different uses.
