Tungsten Lanthanum Alloy

If small quantities of lanthanum oxide (La₂O₃, 1.0~2.0%, 0.2~0.6%) are added to tungsten, its creep resistance is improved and the recrystallization temperature is increased. The machining performance for Lanthanum oxide-doped tungsten (Tungsten Lanthanum Alloy, W-La alloy) is better than pure tungsten. Tungsten Lanthanum Alloy is an ideal material for ion sources, welding electrodes, and contact electrodes.

The regular content is for  W-La alloy 1.5% & 0.5% of lanthanum oxide.

Tungsten-lanthanum alloy (W-La) is an alloy consisting of tungsten metal and a small amount of lanthanum oxide (La₂O₃). Lanthanum oxide improves the properties of the alloy, making it easier to process, and has the following advantages over pure tungsten metal products:
Processability: W-La is easier to process than pure tungsten.
Creep resistance: W-La has better creep resistance than pure tungsten.
Recrystallization temperature: W-La has a higher recrystallization temperature than pure tungsten.
Melting point: W-La has a higher melting point.
Thermal stability: W-La has higher thermal stability.
Electrical and thermal conductivity: W-La has good electrical and thermal conductivity.
Coefficient of thermal expansion: W-La has a low coefficient of thermal expansion.
