Cold-rolled coils can be annealed on a continuous annealing unit or in a vacuum furnace. At present, there are two ways to anneal cold-rolled plates.
1) Vacuum annealing. After cold rolling, the rolling oil and other grease are first removed by cleaning. Generally, alkaline washing and degreasing are used. The cleaned cold-rolled coils are treated in a vacuum state of 400~500℃. The temperature rise should be carried out in stages to ease the temperature difference between the inside and outside of the coil. After vacuum exhaust for a certain period, argon gas is used to replace it, and a forced fan is used to stir it to produce convection heat conduction and uniform temperature. Keep it warm at 600~750℃ to make the temperature inside the coil uniform and control the product grain size. The surface of the product after annealing by this method is smoother than the pickled surface.
2) Continuous annealing in a vacuum atmosphere. Vacuum annealing on a continuous production line is beneficial to the smoothness of the plate surface and the uniformity of the grain size, but the equipment cost and operation costs of this annealing method are large.
The annealing process determines the surface characteristics and material characteristics of titanium. In recent years, with the rapid development of titanium for construction, higher and higher requirements have been put forward for the surface color of titanium materials. Therefore, it is indispensable to improve the annealing process.
The final annealed material should be cold rolled or shaped as needed and then sent to the longitudinal and transverse cutting unit for trimming, striping, and plate cutting. To prevent the surface of the strip from being scratched when passing through the shearing machine, the contact part between the machine and the strip is lined with rubber. Due to the low thermal conductivity and high reactivity of titanium, the wear of the tool during the shearing of titanium plates is also large, and burrs are easily generated, so unique process conditions must be set. When uniform mechanical properties or high strength are required, flat cold rolling can be carried out. The shaping adopts skin-pass cold rolling, tension roller straightening, or roller straightening. The flat rolling pass of skin-pass cold rolling is mainly effective for local extensions such as wavy edges, and tension straightening or roller straightening is mainly effective for a rebound. To suppress the rebound of titanium, the tensile straightening deformation of titanium plates is larger than that of ordinary steel and stainless steel.
