The titanium basket is composed of titanium plate and titanium mesh. The thickness of titanium is between 0.5-2.0mm. The commonly used meshes of titanium basket are 6mm×3mm, 10mm×3mm, 10mm×5mm, and there are also wider meshes of 16×8mm, 25×15mm, etc.

The titanium basket has high strength, light weight, corrosion resistance and a layer of oxide film on the surface. Under normal electroplating conditions, this film can prevent the current from passing through titanium and the current directly flows to the anode material in the titanium basket

Titanium baskets have various forms, including round, rectangular, disc-shaped, etc., and can also be specially designed according to product requirements

Titanium baskets are usually used in conjunction with anode bags. Anode bags are generally made of acid- and alkali-resistant or oxidation-resistant polyester (polyester fiber) or polypropylene (polypropylene fiber), which are put on the outside of the titanium basket to prevent anode mud and other debris from mixing into the tank. Sometimes, in order to more effectively prevent anode mud and prevent burrs from forming on the coating, double-layer anode bags can be used. When using double-layer bags, the inner bag should be tight and the outer bag should be loose. Anode bags generally need to have good corrosion resistance, good wear resistance, good elasticity and other characteristics

Advantages of using titanium baskets

Key points of titanium basket design

1. Titanium has poor conductivity. Generally, the hook outside the water is not more than 0.24A/mm2, and the hook current in the water is not more than 1.5A/mm2. Otherwise, the hook body will heat up, resulting in an increase in the temperature of the electroplating solution, an increase in the cooling capacity, a waste of electricity, and even damage to the plastic tank due to heat

2. The titanium basket hook and the electrode are generally not in contact with a flat or round surface. This method is easy to cause poor contact and spot corrosion of the electrode.

Precautions for using titanium baskets

1. Soak the anode titanium blue and anode bag in 10% alkali solution for 6-8 hours, rinse with water and dry, and then soak in 5% dilute sulfuric acid

2. When the titanium basket hook is found to be significantly hotter, the number of titanium baskets can be increased or the cross-sectional size of the titanium basket hook can be increased to improve the conductivity of the titanium basket

3. The titanium blue mouth should be 30-40mm above the liquid surface to prevent the anode slag from flowing out

4. The lower end of the titanium basket should be 100-150mm higher than the parts (a shield can be considered on the side close to the liquid surface) to avoid excessive concentration of the lower end parts and cause burning

5. The titanium basket should be in close contact with the anode, otherwise the anode potential on the titanium basket will rise sharply, causing oxygen and chlorine evolution reactions on the surface of the titanium basket, causing damage to the titanium basket and oxidation of the additives

6. The anode bag should wrap the titanium basket mouth tightly, and a few centimeters of gap should be left at the bottom of the bag to store the anode slag that may be generated

7. Clean the anode bag and titanium blue every half a month to a month, and replace the damaged anode bag to ensure that the plating solution and the aqueduct are not polluted.

8. Replenish or replenish the anode material in time to avoid “empty” when the nickel content is insufficient, otherwise the titanium will be corroded
