There are three main production processes for titanium fasteners:

Machining process

Titanium metal itself has poor plastic deformation, and the application market of titanium standard parts has also developed slowly from small quantity to large quantity over the years, resulting in slow manufacturing equipment and product research and development updates. Therefore, titanium fasteners were manufactured by mechanical processing when they first entered the market;

Machining products are to process bars into finished products by mechanical processing such as turning, milling, and lathe wire picking. There is a large waste of raw materials, low yield, many processes, large errors, and low yield, resulting in high costs, which directly affects the application and popularization of titanium fastener products.

Hot heading process

Hot heading refers to a processing method in which the material is heated and deformed by pressure to make the shape of the material meet the standard requirements of the drawing. The specific operation is to heat the material to a certain temperature and then put it into a mold of a certain shape for forging and forming, which is also called hot heading processing. Hot heading is mainly used to produce large batches of bolts, nuts and some non-standard special-shaped parts, which improves processing efficiency, ensures product consistency, improves product yield, and reduces certain material and processing costs.

Cold heading process

Cold heading is a method of using the plasticity of metal materials, using a cold heading machine to apply pressure or cold drawing to achieve solid deformation of the metal, and forging the top and rod of the wire at room temperature.

Cold heading is mainly used to manufacture parts such as bolts, nuts, screws, rivets, etc. The raw materials can be titanium and titanium alloys or other non-ferrous and ferrous metal materials. Cold heading can make the utilization rate of raw materials reach more than 90% or even higher;

Cold heading is mostly carried out on a dedicated cold heading machine, which is convenient for continuous, multi-station, and automated production. On the cold heading machine, the processes of cutting, heading, forming, chamfering, reducing diameter and trimming can be completed in sequence, with high production efficiency. At present, only pure titanium materials can be used. The working speed reaches 50~150 pieces per minute, and 30,000 to 70,000 pieces can be produced every 8 hours. The efficiency is extremely high, which reduces the processing cost, reduces the price, and advances the delivery time.
